What changes below 30 meters

Your Advanced card took you to 30 meters once. Deep Diver is where you learn to plan for depth instead of just visiting it. Gas, no-stop time, narcosis, and what to do if a stop gets missed. The training dives run on the walls off West End, Roatan, working down to 40 meters / 130 feet. Finish and your card says 40. That's the recreational limit anywhere you dive.

Deep Diver course FAQ

Do I need Advanced Open Water for the Deep Diver course?

Yes. PADI Advanced Open Water or equivalent, minimum age 15. The course builds on the deep dive you did for your Advanced card. If you need the Advanced first, we can run the two back to back.

Four training dives. The deep dive from your Advanced Open Water course can count as the first one, so ask us to check your log before you book.

Down to 40 meters / 130 feet, the recreational limit. We work deeper across the dives rather than all at once, on the walls off West End.

It helps, though not for the deepest dives. EAN32 has a maximum depth of about 34 meters, so the 40 meter dive is on air. Nitrox does give you more no-stop time at 25 to 30 meters, and we fill it at the shop.

Two days, depending on the boat schedule. That includes the theory portion at the shop as well as the four dives.

No. An Advanced card takes you to 30 meters / 100 feet. Deep Diver is the certification that takes you to 40.

What is deep diving in Roatan like?

The walls off West End drop well past 40 meters, so you're never short of depth here. A short boat ride from the shop, clear water, and a reef that changes as you go down: bigger sponges, black coral, fewer divers around you. Water sits 26 to 29°C year round. Two days. Four dives. Your card says 40.

What comes after Deep Diver?

Deep and Wreck run well together, since Roatan’s wrecks sit at the depths you just trained for. Five specialties, Rescue Diver and 50 logged dives makes you a PADI Master Scuba Diver.

PADI Wreck Diver

Four wreck dives off West End. Advanced and up.

Peak Performance Buoyancy

One day, two dives. The skill that makes you a better diver.
