Coconut Tree Divers runs daily boat diving from West End, with a two-tank morning trip, single-tank afternoon departures and night dives by request. The reef is minutes from the shop, there are more than 80 dive sites within range, and the hardest part is usually deciding when you are done.

Two-Tank Morning Trip · Advanced Divers
This trip is for advanced divers: Advanced Open Water or higher. Two dives at two different sites with a surface interval between them. The morning trip gives us the most flexibility for deeper walls, wrecks, channels and sites where additional certification or experience may be appropriate.
1:00 PM
Single-Tank Dive
A good option for Open Water Divers, newer divers or anyone who prefers their vacation mornings to include breakfast. Afternoon sites are generally chosen to suit the certification and experience level of the group.
2:30 PM
Single-Tank Dive
Book it on its own or combine both afternoon departures. One more tank is often the correct answer.
Night
Night Dives - By Request
Night dives are available by request and are generally scheduled Monday through Thursday with a minimum of four divers. Macro Bay night dives are by appointment. The reef after dark is a different shift entirely.

How We Pick the Dive Site
The ocean gets a vote. Site choice depends on weather, current, certification levels, recent experience and what the group has already dived. West End gives us walls, coral gardens, channels, wrecks, sand patches and swim-throughs, and requests are always welcome even when guarantees are not.
Sites can include West End Wall, Texas, The Maze, Spooky Channel and many others, but the final call is made around the conditions and the divers on the boat.

What You’ll See
Scuba Diving Roatan Sites: Our Caribbean Reef & Fish
Roatan’s caribbean fish and reef offers some of the best coral, creature and fish variety in the Caribbean. On any given dive you are likely to see an abundance of reef fish: parrotfish (juvenile and adult), damselfish, butterfly fish, angel fish and many others are present on almost every dive site. Grouper and snapper are healthy, and you may see large schools of blue tang and creole wrasse. If you do a few dives with us, you are also likely to encounter at least one hawksbill or green turtle. There are occasional sightings of eagle rays, nurse sharks and hammerhead sharks (keep those eyes peeled out in the blue!)
Caribbean Reef Fish
On the dives themselves, we tend to point out creatures and “unusually shaped fish” such as spotted drum, filefish, trunk fish, trumpet fish, eels and rays. As far as Roatan’s caribbean fish and reef creatures (non-fish), we also regularly see lobster and conch thanks to the anti-poaching efforts of the Roatan Marine Park. There is also a very interesting macro life, with many shrimp, crabs, blennies, gobies, nudibranchs and worms. Night dives also offer a different set, with all the crustaceans out in the open, octopus, squid, and even bioluminescence.

Our experienced instructors are highly knowledgeable about the reef inhabitants and fish behaviours, with a wealth of different areas of knowledge and interest. Sit down with us, consult the fish book and we will help you identify what you saw on your dives.
We also have a large flat-screen TV in the shop where we regularly display slideshows of the things we’ve seen recently, video footage from dives and training experiences. Even after thousands of dives, we are still just as excited to see our reef inhabitants, and even perhaps finding something new!

Newly Certified?
Come dive. Tell the crew you are new and we will plan accordingly. Nobody expects your twelfth dive to look like your twelve-hundredth, and we would much rather know where you are comfortable than have you spend the whole dive trying to impress us.
Haven’t Dived in a While?
Tell us. If it has been long enough that a refresher makes sense, the current Quick Refresher price is $50. Remembering where everything is before the boat leaves tends to make the rest of the day more enjoyable.
Gear, Tanks & Nitrox
Bring your own gear or use ours. Standard tanks are 80 cf, with 60 cf and 100 cf options available. If you need a specific tank size, DIN setup or Nitrox, tell us when you book so the crew can confirm what is available for your dives.

Want to Add a Course?
Coconut Tree is a PADI 5 Star Instructor Development Center, which means training does not stop once you have an Open Water card.
When West End Gets Rough
Most days we leave directly from the shop in West End. During periods of north or west swell, West End may not be suitable for boat diving, so operations can move to Flowers Bay on Roatan’s south side. Same crew, different coast, still diving.
Fun Diving FAQ
Can Open Water Divers join the morning trip?
Sometimes. It depends on the sites planned, certification, recent experience and conditions. Tell us your experience and we will put you on the appropriate trip.
How long are the dives?
We generally aim for around 60 minutes when gas, no-decompression limits, conditions and the group allow.
Do I need my own gear?
No. Rental equipment is available, and the current price is $50 per dive with rental gear versus $45 with your own.
How many dives can I do in a day?
The regular schedule offers four dives across three departures: two in the morning, then single dives at 1:00 and 2:30.
Do you run night dives?
Yes. Night dives are by request, generally Monday through Thursday with a minimum of four divers, subject to conditions and availability.
Should I book ahead?
Yes, especially during busy weeks. Walk-ins are welcome when there is space.
