A Divemaster card is the first PADI professional rating. The internship is where you learn to use it. Over six weeks you’ll join the day-to-day operation in West End, assist instructors, work with certified divers, practice briefings and build the judgment that only comes from repetition. PADI asks for 40 logged dives to begin and 60 to certify. Most of our interns finish with somewhere between 60 and 100.
Diving is unlimited while you’re with us, limited only by space on the boat. Short of 40 dives when you arrive? We’ll get you in the water logging them at no extra cost before the formal training starts.

What a week at our dive shop actually looks like
Six weeks is long enough that the job stops being a course and starts being a routine. Four certified dive tours a day, five on Tuesdays and Thursdays with the night dive. You’re on most of them.
What to Expect During Your Divemaster Course
ROUTINE
- Morning two-tank at 9:00. Set up, brief, assist or guide
- Afternoon singles at 1:00 and 2:30
- Night dives Tuesday and Thursday

What's Divemaster training like in Roatan?
We run four certified dive tours a day from the West End dock, plus scheduled night dives on Tuesdays and Thursdays. That gives you changing sites, different guests and plenty of repetitions.
Some days are skill circuits and course assists. Others are tanks, briefings, boats and figuring out what the group needs before they ask.
Over 80 dive sites sit within range on the Mesoamerican Reef. When a north swell pushes into West End between October and January we move the boats around to Flowers Bay on the south shore.
